Pre-Teaching

In response to the projected national teacher shortage, this course is being offered to expand options for students interested in teaching.  The students will gain a realistic understanding of teaching as a career.  Pre-teaching training provides each student with an opportunity to work with the classroom teacher to learn the reality of teaching and teaching skills.  Students will be placed in their home communities with an assigned mentor teacher.

High school seniors may apply to the teacher training program.  The student must have good attendance and be in good standing at their home school.  The student must complete an application for admission.  Two letters of recommendations and a counselor evaluation is required.  A committee made up of teachers, counselors, and an administrator will review the application documents and students will be notified of their acceptance.

SENIORS WHO WANT TO EXPLORE THE TEACHING PROFESSION BUT CANNOT FIT EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INTO THEIR JUNIOR YEAR SCHEDULE MAY TAKE PRE-TEACHING IF THEY QUALIFY THROUGH THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
