Nontraditional programs have been identified by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Office of Vocational and Adult Education based on the hiring practices of business and industry. If less than 25% of either gender is hired into the work force, that field of work is considered nontraditional. The following nontraditional programs are offered at the Mt. Pleasant Area Technical Center/Alma Technical Center.

Nontraditional students are informed about hiring trends and the benefits as well as the challenges involved in working in a nontradidtional field. Through work-based programs, students are able to interact with other people working in nontraditional fields.
